CoSafeRob

The project is developing a safety concept for the collaborative use of mobile robots in production and logistics processes. The focus is on the fusion of safety sensor technology. The solutions developed will first be validated using a demonstrator and then applied to an industrial intralogistics use case.

Aim of the project

The goal of the project is to enable safe and efficient collaboration among multiple mobile robots in order to make logistics processes more flexible, resource-efficient, and resilient. To this end, solutions are being developed that will enable companies to operate cooperative transport systems in a dynamic production environment.

An Overview of the Project Partners:

Pilz GmbH & Co. KG

+
Pilz contributes its expertise in machine safety and automation to develop the central safety solution for cooperative automated guided vehicles (AGVs). This includes the secure identification and position monitoring of individual AGVs, the fusion of safety-relevant sensor data, and the development of an overarching safety architecture and control system that safely and efficiently provides shared safety zones for coordinated AGVs.

Institute for Material Handling and Logistics (IFT)

+
The Institute for Material Handling and Logistics (IFT) contributes its many years of expertise in the field of cooperative automated guided vehicles (AGVs). It develops control and initialization concepts for flexible vehicle networks, enhances existing AGVs with hardware and software upgrades, and supports the integration of safety-related functions.

Premium Robotics

+
Premium Robotics contributes its expertise in mobile, flexible order picking and intralogistics. The company uses mobile gripper robots and FTF transport systems for automated material handling in existing logistics warehouses. In this project, the concepts developed by the IFT will be adapted for an industrial application, tested, and used under real-world operating conditions for practical validation.
