That was Bordnetze Digital 2024

A successful start to the annual congress in Stuttgart, which promotes the exchange of information on the latest developments in wiring system development and production.

Bordnetze Digital 2024: Highlight at the ARENA2036 research campus

On September 26, 2024, the "Bordnetze Digital" congress took place in Stuttgart at the ARENA2036 research campus. With over 100 participants and five exhibitors, including fleXstructures, 4Soft, Vector Informatik, S-IT and smartCable, the event provided a comprehensive platform for discussing the latest developments in wiring systems development and production. Experts from over 50 companies were represented, including leading automotive manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen as well as innovative suppliers and technology providers such as Dräxlmaier, Komax, TE Connectivity and Siemens Industry Software.

The event was moderated by Georg Schnauffer from ARENA2036 and Dr Alain Pfouga from prostep ivip and marked the start of the now annual congress, which aims to help unlock the potential of digitalization and automation. The congress is organized by ARENA2036 in cooperation with the prostep ivip association and thus offers an important platform for developers and technical experts from the entire automotive value chain to exchange ideas.

The future of wiring system development: what experts discussed at Bordnetze Digital 2024

The presentations covered a wide range of topics, including the automation of wire harness production, the development of digital twins, data provision in the age of data spaces and embedding in industrial cloud ecosystems. In particular, the presentation by Hans Zanker (Daimler Buses) and Dr. Harald Bucher (Vector Informatik), in which they presented the vision of model-based wiring system development, addressed a current, relevant trend. They emphasized the Vehicle Electric Container (VEC) data format as the central standard for dispensing with drawings and enabling the development of digital twins. The presentation by Dr. Tobias Carsten Müller from Volkswagen AG, in which he introduced innovative software development methods, also addressed particularly topical issues that will shape the future of wire harness production. Johannes Becker from 4Soft picked up on these impulses and gave an insight into ontology-based data representation and its advantages for interoperability in the industry.

Finally, the speakers discussed the current challenges and opportunities of model-based development and the application of the VEC format in the panel discussion "Model-based wiring system development: dreams of the future or state of the art?", moderated by Dr. Alain Pfouga.

Bordnetze Digital 2025: Make a note now!

The next edition of the "Bordnetze Digital" congress has already been announced. It will take place on September 25, 2025 in the ARENA2036 in Stuttgart. In the coming year, participants can once again expect exciting specialist presentations from renowned representatives of the industry, innovative exhibitors with attractive products and services as well as the latest developments and trends in the digitalization of the wiring systems industry. The focus will be on topics such as the automation and streamlining of the value chain in wiring system production, digital twins with efficient data models and their integration into industrial cloud ecosystems.

The Call for Papers will be published in spring 2025 and you will be able to submit your topic proposals. Of course, you do not have to wait for the Call for Papers if you have ideas or suggestions for topics for the program. You can also get in touch with us now at any time. We look forward to receiving your submissions.
