Altmaier visits the ARENA2036 research campus

On June 4, 2021, Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier visited the ARENA2036 research campus at the University of Stuttgart to find out more about the startup 51nodes and its contributions to GAIA-X. Robert-Bosch GmbH, one of the founding partners of ARENA2036 and a key player in GAIA-X, established contact with the startup 51nodes. ARENA2036 is also familiar territory for 51nodes from its collaboration with STARTUP AUTOBAHN .

During the event, Federal Minister Altmaier visited GAIA-X partner 51nodes to find out how the use of Self Sovereign Identity (SSI) concepts can make it easier to network vehicles from different manufacturers with services and infrastructure. Possible applications range from finding a parking space to booking and billing charging stations - in short, everything that requires open and scalable networks for secure, cross-company data exchange.

The start-up's project activities take place within the framework of GAIA-X. GAIA-X is a European project to create a sovereign data infrastructure and a digital ecosystem based on European values and standards. The implementation of GAIA-X in the automotive industry and supply chains is planned in the lighthouse project "Catena-X Automotive Network", which is expected to start in the fall. ARENA2036 is part of this project with a focus on transfer and demonstration.

During his visit to the research campus, Altmaier commented on the GAIA-X partner 51nodes: "A data ecosystem such as Gaia-X offers small and medium-sized companies and start-ups in particular the opportunity to quickly and easily access shared resources, such as high-performance infrastructures or AI services, and to exchange data with cooperation partners".
