Fifth project meeting at the University of Stuttgart
The DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability) research project for the fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures is running at full speed in its third project year.
On June 25, 2025, around 100 participants from the consortium came together in a hybrid format for the fifth DigiTain project meeting. The 60 local participants were welcomed by the project partner Institute of Structural Analysis and Dynamics of Aerospace Structures (ISD) in Stuttgart and welcomed by Prof. Dr. Tim Ricken, Head of ISD, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Manfred Bischoff from the Institute of Structural Analysis and Structural Dynamics (IBB) and Marlies Springmann from the Institute of Aircraft Design (IFB). Despite minor delays in the sub-area of fuel cell development, it became clear during the meeting that the DigiTain project is on track. One focus of the discussion was the increasing visibility of the project with regard to "digital certification" as well as the intensified coordination with higher-level certification working groups, including those from the KBA and VDA.
This progress has not gone unnoticed internationally either: DigiTain is increasingly gaining international attention - particularly due to its innovative approach to digitalization, sustainable development and certification in the automotive value chain.
Fourth project meeting (online)
The fourth DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability) project meeting on the fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures took place online due to the proximity to the SCAP2024 conference (https://scap-stuttgart.de ). Dr. Said Jamei (Mercedes-Benz, project coordinator) welcomed the participants and opened the event with an overview of current developments. The meeting focused on the reports of the work package leaders, who presented the status of the respective work packages as well as the results and milestones achieved.
In addition, the project partners took the opportunity to discuss key interfaces and further research steps in topic-specific workshops. Specific measures for further collaboration were defined and the next milestones agreed. The next DigiTain consortium meeting will take place in June 2025 at the project partner University of Stuttgart.
Third project meeting at Fraunhofer in Freiburg
The DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability) research project for the fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures is in full swing.
Around 120 participants from the consortium came together in a hybrid format for the third DigiTain project meeting on January 18, 2024. The 90 local participants were welcomed by the project partners Fraunhofer Institute for High-Speed Dynamics (EMI), the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials (IWM) and the Institute for Sustainable Technical Systems (INATECH) in Freiburg. After the welcome address by Dr. Norbert Dölle (Mercedes-Benz, project coordinator) and Prof. Dr. Frank Schäfer (Fraunhofer EMI, host & project partner), the focus was on the current status of the work packages and the report on the goals and milestones achieved by the WP leads. Once again, the participants took the opportunity to discuss further research work and interfaces in workshops and to plan the next steps. The next DigiTain project meeting will take place in July 2024 at the project partner Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) in Ulm.
Second project meeting at the Technical University of Dresden
The DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability) research project for the fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures is in full swing.
Following the first project meeting in Stuttgart on January 31, 2023, around 100 participants from the consortium came together on July 6, mostly on site in Dresden at the project partner Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at the Technical University of Dresden, but also virtually in some cases. Opened by Dr. Norbert Dölle (Mercedes-Benz, project coordinator) and Prof. Niels Modler (ILK TU Dresden, host & project partner), the focus was on the current status of the work packages and the report on the first goals achieved by the WP leads. In addition, the project partners were also given the opportunity to coordinate and discuss their work in workshops on the days surrounding the project meeting. Here, further research work and interfaces could be discussed in greater depth and the next steps planned so that exciting interim results can be expected at the next DigiTain project meeting in January 2024 at the Fraunhofer Institutes EMI and IWM in Freiburg.
KickOff at Mercedes-Benz in Sindelfingen
The DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability) research project for the fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures is picking up speed.
At the kick-off meeting on January 31, 2023, around 100 participants from the consortium came together, mostly on site at the consortium leader Mercedes-Benz AG in Sindelfingen, but also virtually in some cases. In addition to presenting the work packages and planning the collaboration, the kick-off meeting offered the partners the opportunity for an overarching exchange on the planned research content.
