Added value for our members
A unique platform
Research, development & innovation under one roof
The ARENA2036 building creates the ideal environment for new ideas. The open store floor enables unrestricted co-working between corporations, start-ups, SMEs and academia and offers shared, neutral ground on the campus of the University of Stuttgart.
- About the ARENA2036 research factory - with 10.000m2 one of the largest physical innovation platforms in Europe
- Our network of 50 members
- In the heart of the industrial location of Stuttgart
Cooperation in an excellent ecosystem
Utilization of synergies at the interface between research and practice
Our network of globally established members develops its concentrated innovative strength thanks to cooperation at eye level. The exchange of knowledge between scientists and experts from industry promotes the transfer of applied basic research into industrial practice.
- Access to excellent science, e.g. to Acatech
- Concrete implementation of pioneering Industry 4.0 concepts (e.g. Industry 4.0 platform, SmartFactory-KL, IDTA)
- Access to innovative start-ups, e.g. through Startup Autobahn & Plug and Play
Efficient collaboration
Faster from the idea to the project
Our research campus promotes efficient collaboration thanks to unrestricted communication and the co-location of diverse expertise. Open project architectures offer the opportunity to build on and expand existing projects. In a protected space without barriers, but not without boundaries - the IP of our members is secure.
- Openopen projectstructures enableen Integration of new projects
- Increased efficiency thanks to gmutual usabler prototypes, demonstrators and infrastructure (e.g. 5G infrastructure from Nokia) and access to shared technologies (e.g. BIM data as a digital twin and FlexCAR)
- Quickly set up new research projects thanks to neutral ground and proactive support of research coordination
Innovation - powered by ARENA2036
Extensive support for our members
The goals of our members, our support: ARENA2036 Management supports goals, projects and cooperation within ARENA2036. Members benefit from the synergies and services that ARENA2036 Management identifies and implements.
- ARENA2036 as matchmaker: Our research coordination recognizes synergy potentials and brings members together
- Support with the initiation and development of public and private sector projects
- Internal & external events strengthen the network and offer space for brainstorming, exchange and further training - our TECH areas
Technological lead through innovation
Realizing innovations on site the day after tomorrow
At ARENA2036, we scout pioneering innovations that are implemented as part of an extensive ecosystem. Together with our members, we develop overarching technology trends with disruption potential and implement them locally. Close supervision of research projects and our wide-ranging expertise form the basis for this.
- We proactively provide members with impetus from our extended network: e.g. Wire Harness at Productronica; theme days in the areas of additive manufacturing, data rooms, control technology and intralogistics; Manufacturing-X ante portas
- Members benefit from impulses and infrastructure and transfer these into their own projects/products:
- Intelligent floor from BOSCH (used, for example, by the university's IFT and NAiSE, as well as by the ANTS4.0, Well-Defined and Connect4HCA projects, among others)
- Example of the use of NOKIA's 5G infrastructure for intralogistics, including by our members Omron and Balluff and projects such as FlexCAR
Voices of our
Members

"ARENA2036 gives us the opportunity to collaborate fruitfully with a variety of different companies - from start-ups to large corporations. This allows us to quickly develop and implement forward-looking and relevant use cases with potential partners and users. In addition, we gain a broader insight into future trends in automotive production and can access pioneering key technologies at an early stage."
Dr. Thomas Meißner & Dr. Roland Schaefer
Head of Project and Consortia Management & Vice President Innovation
Balluff GmbH

"For us at Nokia, it is extremely important to work together with industrial companies, universities and research institutions to make Industry 4.0 a reality. Our contribution revolves around the topic of connectivity: private wireless networks with 5G for industrial applications and optical broadband connections with extremely low transmission delays (latency)."
Johannes Koppenborg
Research & Business Development Manager
Nokia Enterprise

"ARENA2036 is a unique hot spot for research, industry and entrepreneurship. A wide variety of disciplines, cultures and experiences come together creatively here, which always leads to exciting insights. I am therefore particularly pleased that our Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research has the opportunity to play an active role in shaping this."
Prof. Dr. Alexander Brem
Institute Director
