Using Digital Factories to Advance Physical AI
In a session at NVIDIA GTC 2025, Mercedes-Benz demonstrated how Omniverse-based digital factories are already being used today to plan, test, and even train production systems long before the first screw is turned.
What used to be a static plan is now a living simulation that reflects every movement, every robot, and every person on the line.
With the digital production ecosystem MO360 , Mercedes Benz connects thousands of digital twins from plants in Germany, the US, China, and other countries.
Engineers can simulate processes, switch between combustion and electric production in seconds, and even test control software (PLC) virtually before real machines exist.
Even humanoid robots such as Apollo, developed with Apptronik, are being used in the Omniverse to learn assembly tasks.
This is more than just digitization for efficiency. It shows that factories, just like humans, can learn, adapt, and improve.
At ARENA2036 , we see this as a clear preview of what we call the Industrial Metaverse : an environment where simulation, AI, and human expertise converge to make production smarter, safer, and more adaptable.
