On October 22, 2024, the Fraunhofer IAO Immersive Participation Lab was opened in Stuttgart.

The Immersive Participation Lab (IPLab) is an innovative work and presentation platform that enables realistic 3D visualizations in virtual reality (VR). The focus of the IPLab is not only on the further development of VR technologies and software interfaces for seamless data integration, but also on the development of methods for customized "VR sessions".

A key area of application is the construction industry, which is increasingly focusing on Building Information Modeling (BIM) as part of digitalization. Other areas of application for the IPLab include Product development, ergonomics analysis, production planning and urban planning.
