Event report: about:tomorrow at the ARENA2036 research campus
The two-day event "über:morgen" took place at the ARENA2036 research campus to mark the tenth anniversary of the Stuttgart innovation platform. In addition to the anniversary, however, the start of the third funding phase of ARENA2036 was a particular reason to celebrate. Numerous leading figures from science, business and politics came together in mid-June.
Day 1: Ceremony and project fair
On Thursday evening, almost 300 invited guests gathered for an exclusive ceremony at the research campus. Under the motto "about:tomorrow", they looked to the future of mobility and production. Peter Froeschle, Managing Director of ARENA2036, emphasized the unique cooperation between research and industry in Stuttgart: "Nowhere else do research and industry come together as closely as here in Stuttgart." Jörg Burzer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, emphasized the importance of the platform for Mercedes-Benz and the entire region in his keynote speech.
Further highlights of the evening event were the panel discussion with MinDirig Engelbert Beyer from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Ministerial Director Michael Kleiner from the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Tourism Baden-Württemberg, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Middendorf from the University of Stuttgart and Ida Wolf from Mercedes-Benz AG. The numerous words of welcome and thanks showed that the work at the research campus has left a positive mark in many different places.
More than 60 companies, research institutions and organizations presented over 30 projects currently being worked on at the research campus at the large project fair. They presented innovations from the fields of mobility, production, connectivity and sustainability to the guests - from networked factories of the future and sustainable 3D printing technologies to virtual worlds and open vehicle platforms.
Day 2: Open research campus
On Friday, the research campus opened its doors to the public. From interested company representatives and students to families and friends of ARENA2036 - everyone was welcome to see the technologies of über:morgen up close and personal. The project fair once again offered plenty of opportunity for discussion and exchange. Exciting presentations on stage and guided tours through the research factory and the project fair enriched the offer, which was rounded off by activities such as live graffiti, caricaturists, juggling and much more entertainment for all age groups. ARENA2036 welcomed several hundred visitors to the research campus on the second day of the event.
