DigiTain project starts

German government and European Union support innovative project for sustainable mobility

The DigiTain (Digitalization for Sustainability) research project, which is dedicated to the fully digital product development of sustainable electric drive architectures, was launched on 31 January 2023. The project, which began on January 1, 2023, will run for a total of 36 months and is made up of 26 funded and 2 associated partners from industry and science.

DigiTain aims to develop processes, methods and models for the fully digital product development and certification of sustainable electric drive architectures and to test them using a technology carrier. The German government and the European Union are funding the project as part of the economic stimulus package, section 35c in module b "New, innovative products as the key to vehicles and mobility of the future". TÜV Rheinland Consulting GmbH has assumed responsibility for the project.

The kick-off meeting took place on January 31, 2023 at Mercedes-Benz AG in Sindelfingen, with around 100 participants from the consortium attending partly on site and partly virtually. The work packages were presented and the collaboration planned. The meeting gave the partners the opportunity to discuss the planned research content.

DigiTain addresses the growing relevance of ecological and economic sustainability criteria in vehicle and drive architecture development. As there is currently a lack of suitable digital processes, methods and tools as well as binding standards, DigiTain is developing processes and models that take into account both competitive drives and ecological and economic sustainability criteria. The aim is to achieve holistic overall vehicle and drive architecture development that includes all product-relevant areas.

ARENA2036 is responsible for the knowledge transfer and dissemination work package in the DigiTain project. The aim is to utilize the generated results and tools beyond the consortium and to facilitate scientific exchange. At the same time, the work package serves as an interface to society in order to sensitize the general public to technological developments in terms of sustainability.
