DIN 72036 - Version 2 published for public comment

DIN 72036: Standard for the automation of wire harness production enters the next round - Version 2 available for public comment

The Wire Harness Standardization Initiative (SILS) announces that the second version of the DIN 72036 standard, "Automation of Wire Harness Production", has now been published in draft status and is available for public comment.

The new edition extends the scope of the standard to include high-voltage (HV) and high-frequency (HF) wiring harnesses for the first time. In addition, further design guidelines have been added and existing guidelines have been revised and updated to cover additional requirements and potential for automation.

Another new feature of the revised standard is the introduction of the Degree of Design for Automation (DDA). This key figure allows an objective assessment of the extent to which a wiring harness design complies with the design guidelines of DIN 72036 - and is therefore potentially suitable for automated production.

The aim remains to create the conditions for automated and interoperable wire harness production by means of comprehensive standards.

All interested persons and organizations are invited to review the draft standard and submit their comments. The comment phase is a central component of the standardization process and offers the opportunity to actively participate in the further development of DIN 72036.

The draft is available via DIN Media.
