FM Science and Technology Center, Europe becomes new member of ARENA2036

ARENA2036 welcomes FM Science and Technology Europe Centre, Europe (FM Centre) as a new member of its ecosystem. The FM Centre is the strategic competence center of the insurer FM for research, innovation, and collaboration with customers in the field of risk reduction. FM is a leading insurance company with European headquarters in Luxembourg and headquarters in Rhode Island, USA. The company operates testing and research facilities worldwide to analyze and assess risks in the areas of natural disasters, buildings, cybersecurity, and industrial automation. With more than 2,000 engineers and interdisciplinary research teams, FM analyzes risks at industrial sites worldwide to identify hazards early, prevent damage, and support companies in making informed, preventive decisions.

With its membership in ARENA2036, FM intends to focus in particular on industrial automation and cybersecurity. Technologies such as AMR, AGV, digital twins, predictive/preventive maintenance, and humanoid robotics are at the center of this focus. Initial discussions with members such as DXC, NAiSE, Balluff, SPIE, and Waveye are already revealing opportunities for practical cooperation, and further partnerships are planned.

FM's accession demonstrates that innovation is relevant across all industries and that preventive risk research is increasingly playing a key role in the safe and efficient design of modern production and logistics processes. It underscores the importance of exchange between research, industry, and technology providers in order to implement practical solutions more quickly in industrial applications.

"ARENA2036 enables us to understand early on what risks arise from autonomous robotics, digital twins, and AI-based systems—and to work with partners in the ecosystem to develop preventive solutions before these technologies are used on a large scale."
— Dr. Roland Schaefer, Vice President, Research Director of Automation and Cyber at FM

With its expertise in risk research and technology development, FM strengthens the innovative power of the ARENA2036 ecosystem and demonstrates how targeted research, technology use, and collaboration can effectively advance preventive approaches in industry.
