New member acatech: Welcome!
Press release
acatech and ARENA2036 jointly promote data-driven innovation
The ARENA2036 research campus welcomes acatech - the National Academy of Science and Engineering - as a new member of the ecosystem. Together, the research campus and the academy support comprehensive, cross-domain data use that enables new business models, services and products and at the same time strengthens the sovereign use of data. The first result of the collaboration will be the joint theme day on data spaces at the ARENA2036 site in Stuttgart on February 8, 2024.
acatech 's entry into the ARENA2036 research campus network is a strong signal for the future. In the age of digitalization, networking and the use of data play a decisive role in technological progress and securing Germany's future as a business location. acatech is contributing its expertise and high reputation in advising policy-makers and society to the ARENA2036 ecosystem.
The aim is to establish joint data spaces and platforms for a wide range of players to work together on an equal footing.
Manfred Rauhmeier, acatech Managing Director: "ARENA2036 and acatech are innovation accelerators. Both promote technology transfer by facilitating interdisciplinary and application-oriented collaboration between science and industry. The acatech projects in the areas of data spaces, Mission AI and mobility offer a great deal of overlap with the project priorities of ARENA2036. We want to use these together in a targeted manner for future project successes. We are very pleased about the membership and look forward to the first results of the collaboration."
The upcoming theme day "Data dialog: The benefits of data spaces in the cross-domain value chain" marks the start of the collaboration: it will take place on February 8, 2024 at the ARENA2036 research campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. ARENA2036 founder and Managing Director Peter Froeschle emphasizes: "Events such as the joint theme day are emblematic of the type of collaboration we cultivate at the research campus: personal, at eye level and with short distances. We are delighted that acatech is becoming a new part of our ecosystem and that we can drive our projects forward with the Academy's diverse expertise and large network. Particularly with a view to our third funding phase, the focus areas of data spaces and artificial intelligence are becoming extremely relevant, as the diversity of the projects involved already shows."
Organized by the acatech initiative MISSION KI, the transformation hub Transfer-X, ARENA2036 with the data space initiative ARENA-X and the Mobility Data Space (MDS), the focus will be on the use and exchange of data via data spaces .
MISSION KI, which was presented to the public at the AI conference in Mainz in November 2023, focuses on the data basis to enable quality-assured AI applications. As a leverage project of the German government's digital strategy, MISSION KI is being set up by acatech and funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV).
The data marketplace for the mobility sector Mobility Data Space (MDS) aims to establish a data infrastructure that brings together companies, organizations and institutions from the mobility sector. Here, providers of relevant data meet solution developers who need this data for the development and operation of innovative mobility concepts. The Mobility Data Space is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) and is a flagship project of the European Gaia-X cloud initiative.
Participants can look forward to inspiring presentations and interactive workshops that will shed light on the diverse aspects and offerings in the field of data spaces . Further information and registration for the event can be found on our website.
