"Innovation boost for e-mobility: OMRON is a new member of the renowned ARENA2036 research campus

Langenfeld, 31 July 2023 - Alliance of well-known industry and research organizations wants to promote mobility and production of the future. Intralogistics demo in Stuttgart.

In order to combat climate change and promote alternative mobility approaches, efforts are required from politics, business, research and society. OMRON wants to help shape this change and has therefore joined the prestigious ARENA2036 research campus. This initiative from science and industry aims to transform mobility and production through state-of-the-art developments and technologies. OMRON has been an innovator and source of ideas in industrial automation for many years and is pleased to be able to provide further impetus, for example in intralogistics, together with strong partners through its ARENA2036 membership.

OMRON has launched the 5G MIPS project and will set it up at ARENA2036 in Stuttgart by the beginning of 2024, where it will be presented to interested customers and partners. This is an intralogistics solution in which four partner companies will present the requirements of the industry live in an overall solution as a permanent demo at the Stuttgart campus area. OMRON, NAISE, Nokia and the OMRON Solution Partner WAITKUS are involved. Among other things, the demo will show the advantages of the 5G Private Wireless Network for the communication of mobile robot fleets. Technology for virtual fleet management, mobile robotics such as the LD-250, cobots such as the TM12 and the NAISE control system will be used. One focus is on improved collaboration between man and machine as well as more sustainable, seamless and efficient production processes.

ARENA2036 stands for "Active Research Environment for the Next generation of Automobiles". The members want to jointly promote mobility approaches. OMRON has outlined its comprehensive social and ecological commitment in its corporate strategy "Shaping the Future 2030", among other things. The ultimate goal is to increase the pace and scope of global sustainable development. OMRON's Sensing & Control + Think technologies are designed to help solve a variety of social and societal challenges worldwide.

The members of ARENA2036 work together on a wide variety of interdisciplinary projects. The initiative is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF ) and is run as a registered association. The approximately 60 members are active in various disciplines - from the automotive industry to aerospace technology, industrial automation, textile and materials research through to ergonomics. In addition to OMRON, other internationally renowned companies and organizations such as BMW Group, Intel, Fraunhofer, Daimler, Bosch, Nokia, Siemens, Balluff, Kuka and others are also involved.

"We are delighted that OMRON is joining the ARENA2036 network," says Peter Fröschle, Managing Director of ARENA2036.
