PAIRS
A platform for efficient crisis management
The PAIRS (Privacy-Aware, Intelligent and Resilient Crisis Management) research project is developing a data-driven and cross-domain crisis management platform that supports companies and organizations in identifying potential crises at an early stage and taking countermeasures in good time. The aim is to build sustainable resilience and thus strengthen Germany as a business location. The project is funded by the BMWK.
Cross-domain knowledge and data

With data and information sources from different domains, hybrid AI and knowledge graphs can be used to identify events with crisis potential in good time in order to individually assess their impact on companies, e.g. on supply chains and organizations. This makes it possible to initiate preventative measures and eliminate or at least minimize impending risks. The focus is on the areas of production, logistics, supply chain management and energy supply.
An initial result of the research project is the development of the Supply Chain Radar, or SCR for short, which is already ready for use and which identifies and monitors critical points and leads to a risk assessment when potential crisis situations arise. As a result, recommendations for measures are provided to overcome obstacles or failures in supply chains - or to mitigate their consequences.

Aim of the project
Collapsing supply chains have now reached global proportions. All findings and solution applications from the PAIRS research project have already been integrated into the development of the SCR, resulting in a customized and individual tool for dealing with crisis situations. The main aim here is to create transparency with regard to external complications and the internal circumstances of supply chains. As possible financial consequences or potential shortages of input materials are already taken into account when setting up the SCR, users can already see the initial benefits at this stage.
The SCR's overall view of a supply chain with a particular focus on impending bottlenecks leads to increased sensitivity from raw material extraction to material procurement and includes all logistical imponderables such as port closures, lack of transportation options, staff shortages, etc.
Project structure
PAIRS is a joint research project involving a total of eleven funded partners in a consortium. With the combined expertise of these partners, approaches from the fields of hybrid and explainable AI can be further developed. At the same time, the underlying data infrastructure provides the basis for trustworthy data exchange.
