Quantum technologies and quantum-assisted technology
The research focus "Quantum Technologies" addresses the enormous potential of quantum computing for the industrial future. ARENA2036 combines practice-oriented quantum research with real-world applications from production, robotics, mobility, and engineering. Hybrid AI-quantum methods, quantum optimization, and quantum-accelerated simulations are creating an ecosystem that prepares companies for the next computing revolution at an early stage.
Thematic priorities within the research focus area
ARENA2036 offers a neutral, interdisciplinary platform where partners can contribute and test their quantum simulation and engineering approaches and link them to digital twins.
In the ARENA2036 ecosystem, companies and research partners can test their own quantum optimization models for scheduling, routing, and production planning.
We test QML models for sensor technology, robotics, and point cloud data and develop hybrid AI–quantum approaches together with partners.
ARENA2036 enables partners to evaluate hybrid architectures combining classical AI, simulation, and quantum computing in an industrial context.
ARENA2036 creates the framework conditions that enable partners to contribute and expand their knowledge of quantum computing in training courses, workshops, and pilot projects.
Objective
The research focus "Quantum Technologies" offers an open, practice-oriented ecosystem in which companies, research partners, and start-ups can contribute, test, and further develop their quantum expertise. ARENA2036 provides support in the form of infrastructure, coordination, and links to industrial test beds. The aim is to prepare partners for upcoming quantum applications, jointly develop hybrid AI–quantum approaches, and strengthen technological sovereignty in Europe. The target groups are industry, small and medium-sized enterprises, research institutions, start-ups, and students who want to gain early experience with quantum algorithms and industrial application scenarios.
