Event report: Successful presentation of the Asset Administration Shell at ARENA2036 - project extension announced

On October 15, 2024, the results to date of the "Asset Administration Shell for Wire Harness"AAS4WH) project were presented in a comprehensive results conference at ARENA2036. The event focused on exclusive insights into the digitalization of the value chain, particularly in the areas of development, production and assembly of wire harnesses. The Asset Administration Shell, which plays a central role in this, is proving to be a real added value for the industry by making processes more efficient and interoperable.
Leading companies in the industry took part in the presentation, including the DRÄXLMAIER Group, Kromberg & Schubert, Coroplast, Festo, Komax, KOSTAL Group, WEZAG and ARENA2036 itself. Using concrete examples, they showed how the Asset Administration Shell can be successfully applied in practice. Key issues such as cross-company collaboration, distributed data storage and the use of a "single point of truth" for data avoidance were discussed in detail.
The announcement by project manager Christian Kosel right at the beginning of the event attracted particular attention: the project will be extended by a further six months. This additional time will be used to further deepen the results and develop practical concepts. The 400-page results report was officially handed over to the project sponsor VDI e.V. and will now be further developed in established working groups and networks in the industry.
The event offered not only theoretical insights, but also practical demonstrations that illustrated the possibilities of the Asset Administration Shell . Most of the results presented will soon be available on the ARENA2036 website, including recordings of the presentations.
The extension of the project lays the foundation for further important progress. In particular, the connection to the Catena-X-datadata space and the scalability of the Asset Administration Shell offer forward-looking prospects for the digital networking of the industry.
