Kick-off event KIRR Real
ARENA2036 (Pfaffenwaldring 19, 70569 Stuttgart)

Real-world laboratory for secure AI - shaping innovations in compliance with the law
At a time when artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics are revolutionizing the economy, Baden-Württemberg is facing a key challenge: companies in the region must not only use AI strategically, but also make it legally compliant in order to exploit the full potential of this key technology. The new project "KIRR Real - Real-world laboratory for legally compliant AI and robotics" by Fraunhofer IPA and ARENA2036 aims to facilitate the safety-certified application of AI. The project is funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism of the State of Baden-Württemberg.
AI offers enormous opportunities, but its use must always take into account safety and applicable regulations, such as the AI Act or the Machinery Ordinance. The complex regulations often pose a major challenge for small and medium-sized companies in particular.
The aim is to create a real-world laboratory in which expertise is built up through practical use cases in order to efficiently design the legally compliant development and testing of AI systems. The focus is on the use of AI in production. Companies are supported by "Legal Quick Checks" to quickly and reliably ensure that their systems comply with legal requirements. This ensures that Baden-Württemberg's economy is not slowed down by legal hurdles, but that its competitiveness can be further strengthened and expanded in an increasingly digital and automated world.
Key facts
A cordial invitation is extended to the kick-off event of the project "KIRR Real - Real-world laboratory for legally compliant AI and robotics". The event is being organized in cooperation with Fraunhofer IPA and ARENA2036. The event will take place on 10.12.2024 from 10:30 to 15:00 at ARENA2036 in Stuttgart. It is open to all interested parties, but is particularly aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The kick-off event offers the opportunity to get to know the project and the pilot use case as well as to experience exciting specialist presentations. It will also explain how to submit and review your own use cases free of charge with regard to the AI Act and the Machinery Ordinance. The submitted use cases will be reviewed by means of so-called "Legal Quick Checks", which enable an initial legal assessment of the use cases.
