ReDriveS brings together 25 partners from industry, research, and small and medium-sized enterprises—including leading automakers, technology providers, universities, and research institutions. The consortium covers the entire value chain, from the development of powertrain systems through disassembly and recycling processes to environmental assessment and digital integration.

Objectives: To define the legal, technical, and environmental framework and derive a consistent vision for disassembly, recycling, and digitization.
AP3: Collaborative Data Sharing in the Automotive Ecosystem

Objectives: Development of a software architecture for cross-platform data sharing, establishment of a digital ecosystem, and integration into Catena-X.
AP4: Digital Evaluation System
Lead Partner: Magna PT B.V. & Co. KGaA
Objectives: To develop a cloud-based assessment system for automated decision-making regarding reuse or recycling pathways.
AP5: System Dismantling
Lead Partner: Clausthaler Environmental Technology Research Center (CUTEC)
Objectives: Research into automated disassembly processes for complete electric axles using flexible tools, robot vision, and AI-supported path planning.
AP6: Disassembly of Main Subassemblies
Responsible Partner: FFT Produktionssysteme GmbH & Co. KG
Objectives: Disassembly of the rotor, stator, and inverter to recover high-quality recyclables and prepare for magnet recovery.
AP7: Mechanical Processing
Lead Partner: BLC – The Battery Lifecycle Company GmbH
Objectives: Comparative evaluation of conventional recycling methods and the newly developed ReDriveS processes.
AP8: Design Principles
Lead Partner: Leichtbau-Zentrum Sachsen GmbH
Objectives: Development of a design catalog for easily disassembled e-axles (“meta-axle”) and integration of recycled materials into future designs.
AP9: Magnet Recycling
Lead Partner: Pforzheim University
Objectives: Further development of the hydrogen-based HPMS process and hydrometallurgical processes for the recovery of rare earth elements.
AP10: Magnet Production & Demonstration
Lead Partner: Pforzheim University
Objectives: Production and validation of high-performance NdFeB magnets made from recycled material and their integration into electric motor demonstrators.
AP11: Life Cycle Assessment
Lead Partner: Öko-Institut e.V.
Objectives: Comprehensive analysis of the environmental impacts of all process steps—from disassembly to the production of new magnets.
AP12: Business Case Study
Lead Partner: FEV Europe GmbH
Objectives: Development of techno-economic models for scalable dismantling plants and new business models (deposit-return systems, leasing, remanufacturing).
