Participation of new partners in SILS

The SILS is designed as an open consortium in which other companies in the wire harness industry can join at any time. If you can imagine contributing your experience and ideas to help advance the challenging standardization of wire harness production automation, we would be delighted to hear of your interest and invite you to get involved in the sub-projects. On this page, we would like to give you more information on how to contact us and what the next steps towards membership look like

Step 1: Information meeting for interested companies

Interested companies should contact the SILS coordination team, i.e. the SILS Project Office (see left: contact person Mr. Georg Schnauffer). In a joint meeting, we then explore mutual added value, expectations of new partners and possible focal points of cooperation in the SILS. The main aim here is to establish whether and how the interests coincide with the priorities of the Wire Harness standardization initiative.

We will also explain how the SILS works and how it is organized, present the sub-projects and their content and discuss the details of the necessary ARENA2036 membership and project contributions with you. Of course, we will also address your individual questions. On this basis, a well-founded decision on participation can be made.

Step 2: Onboarding process for new partners

Onboarding in terms of content

For its part, the new partner names the experts with whom it would like to participate in the prioritized sub-projects. At the start, it makes sense to focus on two or three sub-projects; participation in further sub-projects is possible at any time during the course of the project. The coordinator establishes contact with the sub-project leaders, who then discuss the current status of the work with the new members of their sub-project. The coordinator then activates the new members of the sub-projects for the joint MS Teams channel. With the detailed minutes of all sub-project meetings, every new participant can follow the progress to date and get started.

Formal onboarding

Participation in the Wire Harness standardization initiative requires membership of the research campus. ARENA2036 is organized as a registered association and provides the framework for cooperation. Membership of ARENA2036 is an attractive "entry ticket" to the BMBF's research campus for automotive production and Industry 4.0. Membership opens up numerous opportunities for all technology innovations that benefit from interdisciplinary collaboration.

Joining the Wire Harness standardization initiative is achieved by:

  • Commissioning of the offer to contribute to the project costs
  • Recognition of the ARENA2036 antitrust guideline
  • Accession to the SILS cooperation agreement

Each partner bears an equal share of the costs of the Wire Harness standardization initiative. The offer includes all services that the consortium has planned for the current phase and is identical for all partners in terms of both content and budget.
