Research Campus for the Future and Innovation
ARENA2036 stands for “Active Research Environment for the Next Generation of Automobiles” and is one of nine research campuses under the “Research Campus – Public-Private Partnership for Innovation” funding initiative in Germany. ARENA2036 is supported by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) and is operated as a registered association with members from academia and industry who come together under one roof at the research campus. With their diversity, they collectively form a unique ecosystem for research and development and demonstrate the strengths that close cooperation across companies and industries brings.
From Vision to Platform: The Development of ARENA2036
ARENA2036 is the result of a strategic partnership between the University of Stuttgart, leading research institutions, and major industry players. A lot has happened since its founding in 2013: Over the course of three funding phases, the partner network has continued to grow, many projects and innovations have gotten off the ground, and we’ve had the privilege of hosting many major events and, in doing so, welcoming fascinating people. Our timeline looks back on the highlights of the research campus’s history, which now spans more than 10 years—we hope you enjoy exploring it!
Research Campus
The University of Stuttgart has won the BMBF “Research Campus” competition with ARENA2036. This marks the beginning of a close, long-term collaboration between academia and industry.
