Insights into the Industrial Metaverse real-world laboratory at ARENA2036

The Industrial Metaverse is a fundamental trend that is bringing about lasting change to industry and the world of work. From digital twins to process simulations and AI-driven optimizations: building on the integration and further development of existing enabling technologies, virtual models are becoming intertwined with real-world optimization and value creation. ARENA2036’s Industrial Metaverse real-world lab used concrete, real-world use cases to demonstrate what is already possible today and provided insights into future development potential. The Technology Session highlighted specific approaches and offered insights into possible implementation steps using practical demonstrators.

Dr. Gor Hakobyan is the CTO of Waveye Inc, a Californian-Swabian company that develops high-resolution imaging radars for robotics. Waveye's products are used in particular in mobile and humanoid robotics to enable safety alongside humans. In his previous role at Bosch, he led research into next-generation automotive imaging radars. Gor has over 100 patent applications in the field of environmental sensing.

Dr. Alexander Achberger is the CEO and founder of Haptive, as well as a researcher in the field of virtual and augmented reality, specializing in haptic feedback. He previously earned his Ph.D. from the University of Stuttgart and conducted research at the Virtual Reality Center of Mercedes-Benz AG on industrial applications of haptics in XR systems. His expertise combines scientific research with practical development in the fields of VR, AR, and digital interaction technologies.

Janet Mazur is a doctoral candidate at the Virtual Reality Center of Mercedes-Benz AG and conducts research on immersive XR technologies for vehicle development, including work in the Holodeck at Arena2036. Her work focuses on the modular validation of UI and UX concepts within the vehicle using XR, particularly through the use of haptic feedback and multisensory interactions. Her research combines HMI, virtual driving experiences, and immersive user experiences and is part of the CARpulse research project.

Dominik Zettler is currently Vice President of Horizontal Management Simulation for Industrial Systems (Digital Industries) at Siemens. Dominik Zettler brings experience from his previous roles at the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern and at Siemens. Dominik Zettler earned an MBA in Economics from the University of Applied Sciences in Kaiserslautern between 2012 and 2014. He possesses a broad range of expertise, including software project management, planning, business analysis, planning and monitoring, English, automotive engineering, and more.
